Altmire Wants Second Investigation Into Mishandling Of Veterans Benefit Claims
United States Congressman Jason Altmire wants a second investigation by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General into the the mishandling of veterans' benefits claims in Pittsburgh. The OIG announced its first investigation in May. Altmire would like to see a second investigation look into whether managers were responsible for employees knowingly delaying the claims process for several veterans. Altmire said in order to gain $300 bonuses, employees purposely postponed the filing of multiple benefits claims. Altmire added that he did not know of any punishments being handed out to the employees, but an investigation that's currently underway could change that.
