Official Viewing and Memorial Plans Made for Officers.

Police from across North America are expected to gather in Pittsburgh this week. To pay their respects to the three officers killed over the weekend. A variety of family arraignments have been made for each of the officers killed in a shoot out in Stanton Heights. All three caskets will eventually make their way to the City County Building Wednesday where the officers will lie in repose. The caskets will be on view to the public starting at 4:00 that afternoon and the building will stay open until 10:00 Thursday morning. Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl says at that point the remains will leave the building and proceed to the Peterson Event Center in Oakland. He says more citizens will be allowed to pay their respects along the still to be determined route. A public memorial service will be held at the Peterson Thursday at 1:00. Pittsburgh Police Chief Nate Harper says he has spoken to chiefs of several departments across the country and Canada who say they are sending officers. In all he says he expects to see representatives from more than 1,000 departments. In the Meantime all three officers have been awarded a purple heart and the medal of valor. The Pittsburgh Fraternal Order of Police has established a memorial fund. Donations are being accepted on line.
