PEC Names new Leader

After a unanimous vote from the Pennsylvania Environmental Council Board of Directors, Don Welsh has been named the new president and CEO of the organization. Welsh has been involved in the region’s environment for more than 30 years, working on the State Department of Environmental Protection and the National Environmental Protection Agency. King says he has a "wealth of knowledge" within the region. Welsh says he hopes to expand on what the PEC is now working on, including watershed conservation and air quality. PEC Board Chair Paul King says former President Brian Hill left to take a position at the R.K. Mellon Foundation last year. Welsh will officially become president on April 27.
