PennDOT is advising motorists that several ramps and interstates in the Pittsburgh area will be temporarily closed to traffic on Thursday morning, April 9 during the memorial event to honor Pittsburgh’s fallen officers.
The following will be closed beginning at approximately 10 a.m. on Thursday. The closures are expected to occur for about three hours. Colored detours will be used where available and signs will be posted to guide motorists around the closures.
The ramps from inbound (southbound) Route 65 to the Fort Duquesne Bridge
Traffic will be detoured using the West End Bridge to Carson Street to the Fort Pitt Bridge
Inbound (southbound) Interstate 279 (Parkway North) to the Fort Duquesne Bridge
Traffic will be detoured using northbound Route 65 to the West End Bridge to Carson Street to the Fort Pitt Bridge
The ramp from the inbound I-279 Parkway West/Fort Pitt Tunnel to eastbound I-376 (Parkway East)
Take the ramp into the downtown area/Boulevard of the Allies
Follow Boulevard of the Allies back to eastbound I-376 (Parkway East)
The ramps from downtown (Stanwix and Wood streets) to the interstate connector to westbound I-376
The Grant Street on-ramp to eastbound I-376 (Parkway East)
The ramp from the Birmingham Bridge to Forbes Avenue
Forbes Avenue closed at the Birmingham Bridge
The ramp from Ridge Avenue to Reedsdale Street
The ramp from the Boulevard of the Allies to Forbes Avenue
The ramp from Reedsdale Street to the tunnel under Route 65
The I-279 HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle) lanes will close one hour early at 9 a.m. tomorrow
