City and county officials say Pittsburgh is ready for the G-20 Summit. Mayor Luke Ravenstahl, County Executive Dan Onorato and other officials held a press conference Tuesday to wrap up final details concerning the region's preparation for the G-20 Summit.
They addressed issues concerning access to downtown and invited people to use public transportation. Several businesses in the downtown and uptown areas have boarded up their windows with plywood, anticipating non-peaceful protests. Onorato said they would be covering the boards with decorative papers.
They said all of the final preparations are done. They spoke of an insurance policy that was part of their original G-20 budget. It has been in place since Sunday.
Both city and county offices will be open during the summit. Dan Onorato asked residents to be flexible and enjoy the event.
