Mayor Luke Ravenstahl has submitted his proposed 2010 operating budget. The 455.3 million dollar budget is similar to budgets of years past. It funds the pension minimum municipal obligations with an additional 12.2 million dollars, consistent with the Act 47 plan and asks for fifteen million dollars a year to put into the city's pension fund.
Ravenstahl said he will work closely with the necessary parties to determine where the revenue will come from. It may come from university and medical taxes.
The Intergovernmental Cooperation Authority has thirty days to request changes to the Mayor's budget before he presents it to the council November 9.
