"Flash Mob" for Climate Awareness Protests Downtown

A small group of protesters held a "flash mob" on Penn Avenue at Seventh Avenue downtown today to protest the lack of participation in climate talks by G20 leaders. The quick, get-in get-out protest featured three activists wearing masks of President Barack Obama, Prime Minister of England Gordon Brown, and Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany pretending to be asleep. Suddenly other demonstrators with big cardboard clocks showed up telling the leaders to "Wake Up!" to the dangers of climate change and take action. Morgan Goodwin with the group AVAAZ helped stage the event and called on Mr. Obama to commit to attending the United Nations Climate Talks in Copenhagen. After the skit, activists passed out the phone number to the White House and dialed the number repeatedly in an attempt to get their demands met.
