On Wednesday, Pittsburgh City Council voted for a temporary G-20 ordinance that will allow police to cite people for possessing items if they seem to be trying to avoid crowd control.
Before the vote, council members took partook in a question and answer session with Public Safety Director Michael Huss where he discussed the the ordinance and the rationale behind some of the wording.
The ordinance is temporary and expires at midnight on September 30th.
Anyone with pipes or handcuffs, chains, padlocks, gas masks, noxious or toxic substances with purpose to use it can be cited.
The final vote was 8-1 with William Peduto voting no.
