County Health Department Meeting

An Allegheny County Health Department Meeting was held Wednesday.
Among the topics discussed was the county's long-awaited bio-terror laboratory. Although it was completed two years ago, it has not opened due to a series of structural problems.
Bruce Dixon, Director of the Health Department said he expects the lab to be open by the end of the month in case any of the demonstrators were to release something that would pose a health risk to someone they could identify it and very quickly deal with it.
Also on the agenda were new proposed air quality regulations, an update on the department's Sexually Transmitted Disease Program and a report from Allegheny Correctional Health Inc., which provides health care for inmates at the county jail.
Dixon also addressed concerns about H1N1.
