"Get Help Now" Wraps Up on Friday

The "Get Help Now, Pennsylvania initiative culminates Friday, September 11--the National Day of Service and Remembrance-- in Pittsburgh with free legal and financial services being offered to residents who are struggling as a result of the economic downturn. Earlier this year, President Obama asked governors to establish programs to provide free assistance to people in need of financial help. Pennsylvania's first lady, Judge Marjorie Rendell says since July 7, lawyers and financial experts have been volunteering time every Tuesday and Thursday at 19 locations across the state... "and sitting down with citizens who come in with their problems, whether it's mortgage debt, whether it's a health problem that they can't seem to get through to their health insurer, whether it's a financial problem of some kind."
Judge Rendell says the experts work with the citizens to come up with a "game plan" to address the problem.
The final "Get Help Now" event is Friday from noon to 4 p.m. at the City-County Building in downtown Pittsburgh.
